About Alibat

AliBat aluminium cavity battens have been developed to meet the rigorous standards of the New Zealand building industry and Building Code. AliBat is manufactured from thick wall extruded aluminium and is non-combustible, being compliant for use on buildings over 10M high. These battens are not only non-combustible, their extruded profile enables them to perform as a structural element, in some cases reducing the requirement for nogging in a building's framing. AliBat is the superior cavity batten, boasting a very long life while also being light-weight and very straight. AliBat comes in pre-drilled 5.8 metre lengths to reduce waste and labour costs. No matter what features you need, AliBat has it covered.

Clad above three levels

AliBat exceeds the requirements for cavity battens in non-combustible mulitlevel construction. Get all the benefits of aluminium weatherboard cladding on your mid-rise project: • Light weight • Low maintenance • Very long life • Great range of colours and profiles • 5.8 metre lengths ensure rapid construction and straight walls.

Fire Compliant above 10 metres

AliBat can be used in conjunction with Nu-Wall cladding to form a non-combustible exterior.

Unlike timber and plastic battens, aluminium is non-combustible and will not degrade when exposed to sunlight, water or humidity. Aluminium is non-hygroscopic and can be used in situations of minimal ground clearance. It is the superior choice for multilevel construction.

Strong and durable

AliBat has been tested* by BRANZ Structural Engineers and verified as being able to perform up to design wind pressures of 6.09kPa. The face is thick-walled aluminium; very important when calculating screw pull-out strength. Unlike thin wall light gauge steel battens, which struggle to hold a screw in high wind situations. The inherent strength of AliBat allows unique applications such as cantilevering over seismic or expansion joints. In addition to being non-combustible and structurally strong. Alibat battens will not degrade when exposed to sunlight, water or humidity. Aluminium is non-hygroscopic and can be used in situations of minimal ground clearance.
